January 25, 2010 - The International Society of Automation announced that the 2010 Industrial Automation Safety and Security Symposium, sponsored by the ISA Safety Division, will take place 28-29 April 2010 at the Astor Crowne Plaza in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. This years symposium will focus on threatsincluding cyber security threatsto industrial environments and the steps engineers must consider when designing and optimizing industrial processes and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS). ISA training courses include Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and the ANSI/ISA-84 standard, and industrial automation security and the ANSI/ISA-99 standard. Symposium presentations will provide practical and useful guidance for designing industrial processes, selecting SIS, and protecting these systems against cyber threats and dangerous failures. The day will include three tracks - Alarm Management, SIS, and Cyber Security - and will end with a safety and security panel discussion. The event will provide an in-depth look at today's safety and security technologies and procedures. It is intended to create a forum where paper presentations and panel discussions transfer information from the leaders and experts on safety and control to industry professionals. A full program will include expert-led sessions, training, social functions, and more. About ISA Founded in 1945, the International Society of Automation is a leading, global, nonprofit organization that is setting the standard for automation by helping over 30,000 worldwide members and other professionals solve difficult technical problems, while enhancing their leadership and personal career capabilities. Based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, ISA develops standards; certifies industry professionals; provides education and training; publishes books and technical articles; and hosts conferences and exhibitions for automation professionals.
