| ITT Announces Evolution in Small Motor Connectors Delivers a 50% Reduction in Size |
.jpg) New connector is low profile, cost-effective and easy to install… NEWTON, Mass. – November 19, 2004 – ITT Industries, Cannon has introduced the M3™ small motor connector that is 50 percent lighter and has a significantly lower installation cost than conventional designs. Requiring minimal space, the M3 connector comes completely sealed and shielded for high reliability and its simple harnessing reduces assembly and installation time in motor applications. The M3 connector enhances a variety of servo motor applications including machine tools, packaging, factory automation, material handling, printing, food packaging, assembly lines, motion control, marking and labeling, robotics, production machines, and laser trimming systems. The M3 is designed for motors with a flange size of 60cm by 60cm or less. Key features include a high degree of vibration and shock resistance, IP67 sealing, a housing that contains a single power and three feedback insulators separated by metal shielded walls, and two sealed entries for power and feedback cables. Specifications are 48V/5A power rating, operating voltage of 50 to 630V and current rating of 2 to 10A. The M3 connector meets all the requirements for DIN EN 1984 safety compliance. A zinc die cast shell, Fluor rubber sealing parts, high temperature insulator material and high quality contacts ensure a rugged, reliable design. A rotating flange version is available with a modified Seeger Ring pre-assembled in the housing, O-ring sealing and predefined locking positions. The connector rotates 270 degrees in 15-degree increments. For quantities over 10,000 pieces, pricing is typically $10-15 per unit. The M3 is also available with high-vibration resistant socket contacts with unit prices ranging from $15-20 for similar volumes. Lead times are typically 6 weeks.
