ITT announces line of servomotor connectors
Small motor connectors are low profile, cost-effective and easy to install…

SANTA ANA, Calif. – November 15, 2006 – ITT, Electronic Components has a new servomotor interconnect system that will replace two traditional circular connectors for a wide range of servomotor sizes and provide design engineers with a space-saving and flexible motor connector. Designated the CmX Series, the low-profile connectors are 50 percent smaller and lighter than conventional circular connector designs with significantly lower installation costs.

The CmX Series connector features a simplified connection design that replaces conventional circular connectors, which require a large number of components and at least twice the length and four times the diameter to house the same components as CmX connectors. The innovative design reduces the connector footprint on the servomotor by half and is just one-third the height of traditional circular connectors. ITT’s design enables installation in just four steps, and it includes a new clamp technology that minimizes the space required for cable strain relief, shielding and sealing components.

The CmX Series connector family will be introduced in a number of sizes compatible with the various flange diameters and power requirements of servomotors currently on the market and in development. Each size of CmX Series connector has varied dimensions for the power cable entry and power connector, while the feedback cable entry and feedback connector dimensions remain similar across the connector family. The CmX Series connector is currently offered in three sizes – Cm2 for flanges less than 40mm x 40mm, Cm3 for flanges up to 100mm x 10mm and Cm5 for flanges up to 150mm x 150mm – covering a power range from less than 5A to more than 40A.

All connectors in the CmX Series are completely sealed and shielded for high reliability and provide a high degree of vibration and shock resistance. The connectors feature IP67 sealing, a housing that contains power and feedback insulators, and a first-make/last-break power ground contact electrically linked to the shell. A zinc die cast shell, Fluor rubber sealing parts, high temperature insulator material and high quality contacts ensure a rugged, reliable design. The CmX Series connectors meet all requirements for DIN EN61984 safety compliance.

Servomotor applications enhanced by the CmX Series connectors include machine tools, packaging, factory automation, material handling, printing, food packaging, assembly lines, motion control, marking and labeling, robotics, production machines and laser trimming systems.

Pricing varies depending on connector size and design options. Lead times start at three weeks.
