ITT introduces CIR Marine Bronze Series connectors

August 15, 2011 --ITT introduces CIR Marine Bronze Series connectors for harsh underwater environments, including marine and naval applications. The waterproof CIR Marine Bronze Series connectors meet IP67 specifications when mated, and are manufactured from an aluminium-bronze alloy that also contains iron, nickel, manganese and lead, making them resistant to rust and corrosion.

The rugged CIR Marine Bronze Series connectors feature a bayonet lock and are produced in accordance with NATO standard VG 95234. The advanced connectors offer fast coupling/uncoupling with a "snap-in" lock, which provides audible verification of correct coupling. Resistant to shock and vibration, the CIR Marine Bronze Series connectors are waterproof to 10m for up to 12 hours for classes with specified grommets and gaskets. The design has no thread to gall and bind, so connection integrity is unaffected by contaminants such as dust and sand. They can be mated/unmated up to 2000 mating cycles.

ITT ICS' Marine Bronze Series connectors are fully RoHS compliant and are available in three different types: CIR Marine Bronze Bayonet (meets NATO standard VG 95234 and features bayonet lock); VGE Series (meets NATO standard VG 96929); and the VE-VS Marine Bronze Threaded Series (meets MIL-DTL-5015 standard).

ITT ICS' Marine Bronze VGE Series high current connectors conform to the VG 96929 classification for the transmission of high power at a low voltage level. They have the same coupling features, mechanical data and panel mounting dimensions as ITT ICS standard CIR connectors. Applications include military field equipment, ships and other sea-going vessels.

MIL-DTL5015 VE-VS Marine Bronze Threaded Series interconnects are cylindrical multi-pole connectors which feature silver or gold-plated copper alloy solder or crimp contacts

In addition, customized CIR Marine Bronze connectors are available for one-off applications. Featuring an operational temperature range of -55deg.C to +125deg.C, the CIR Marine Bronze Series interconnects are available in the same wide range of sizes and contact arrangements as standard CIR connectors and offer the same electrical characteristics. They are available with 1 to 159 poles and with cable sections ranging from 0.15 to 107 mm².
