ITT introduces PCMCIA I/O card kits
March 9, 2010 – ITT Interconnect Solutions developed snap-on and ultrasonic PCMCIA I/O kits with a variety of customizable features for maximum design flexibility. The snap-fit PCMCIA kit consists of a pair of robust mechanically-assembled stainless steel card covers that provide the PC card with both torsional stiffness and excellent drop test performance, while the ultrasonic kit welds the plastic cover set around the PC card ultrasonically to create a solid protective shell.

Both the snap-on and ultrasonic kits are secure and tamper-proof, and feature standard card end closure moldings along with the ability to accommodate specialized end caps or extension box designs. The robust 68-pin connector can withstand more than 10,000 mating cycles and multiple connector off-set options are available to suit a wide range of applications. Kits can be supplied with or without cardbus features, and high-volume production tooling is available on request.

ITT’s PCMCIA I/O kits meet all JEIDA standards and Type I and Type II PCMCIA specifications. The RoHS compliant I/O kits also provide complete EMI shielding.

Typical pricing for the PCMCIA I/O kits ranges from $1.20 to $4.50 for quantities from 5k to 100k. Lead time is from 6 to 8 weeks.
