Keithley Instruments, Inc. News
| Keithley Wins 19th Prestigious R&D 100 Award |
Cleveland, Ohio August 30, 2005 - Keithley Instruments, Inc. (NYSE:KEI), a leader in solutions for emerging measurement needs, announced today that it has been awarded an R&D 100 Award for its combination Model 6221 Precision AC/DC Current Source and Model 2182A Nanovoltmeter. Called the Oscars of Invention by the Chicago Tribune, the R&D 100 Awards are presented by R&D Magazine and recognize the 100 most innovative and technologically significant products introduced into the marketplace during the past year. The editors of R&D Magazine and a panel of independent industry experts select the winners. This is the 19th time that Keithley has been selected to receive an R&D 100 Award for its products. Keithleys Model 6221 Precision AC/DC Current Source can source low currents with high accuracy. Built-in control functions make it ideal for characterizing semiconductor and nanotechnology materials. The Model 6221 complements the Model 2182A Nanovoltmeter, an instrument that lets users make low-level electrical measurements in production and research facilities. More details about the instruments can be found at www.keithley.com/pr/019. The combination Model 6221 and Model 2182A features a new Delta Mode function that uses a three-point measurement scheme instead of the common two-point method. This dramatically improved method eliminates excessive signal noise, producing more accurate measurement results for the most demanding low-level measurement applications. The combination Model 6221 and Model 2182A also features a pulse measuring technique. For non-destructive electrical test of fragile nanotechnology devices with low operating signal levels, pulse tests can help avoid damaging the device and still yield accurate test results. R&D Magazine will profile the winners in its September 2005 issue. An awards banquet is planned at Chicagos Navy Pier in October to distribute awards to the winners.
