Clinton Township, Michigan — May 25, 2006 – KUKA Robotics Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of industrial robots, today announced the introduction of the KUKA Jet robot, a 6 axis robot mounted on a linear unit. The new robot is designed for customers with applications that entail long reach tasks. The 6 axis robot is mounted either upside down or sideways on the linear rail depending on the application need and is available in four configurations with different reaches and working ranges.

"Customers with applications where long distances need to be traversed will find the KUKA JET robot ideal," said Kevin Kozuszek, director of marketing for KUKA Robotics Corporation. "The robot combines the speed of a linear axis and the flexibility of a 6-axis robot making it ideal for handling tasks in multiple industries including injection molding, die casting, machine tool manufacturing and logistics."

The KUKA JET robot’s enhanced maneuverability allows machines to be tended through narrow openings and parts precisely positioned even within the machine. It also allows parts to be withdrawn from the machine in a longitudinal direction making it possible to serve a number of machines in a row. Additionally, the installation can be configured to allow several machines to be tended by one combination. The KUKA JET robot is available in four configurations with different reaches and working ranges with payloads ranging from 30 to 60 kilograms.
