Clinton Township, Michigan — March 13, 2005 – KUKA Robotics Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of industrial robots, today announced its new injection molding function package for KUKA Robots. The new package will allow customers to integrate robots into any Injection molding machine (IMM) from 100 to 6000 tons with less installation and engineering time. The standardized tested package is designed for any KUKA robot being utilized for part removal on an IMM.

“In today’s competitive global market integrators are demanding more functionality in their automation building blocks to reduce installation, engineering and start up costs,” said Joe Campbell, director of strategic alliances for KUKA Robotics Corporation. “This package is the only package currently available that meets those demands.”

The KUKA injection molding function package is available for all KUKA robots and is optimized for the company’s line of KUKA KS shelf-mounted injection molding robots. The function package includes an SPI interface between the IMM and the robot, a Festo Device Net Valve stack with vacuum generators, a complete energy supply and pneumatic tubing from the base of the robot to the 6th axis faceplate. End-of-arm tooling can be connected with no additional accessories. The company's 6 axis robots range from 3kg to 500kg payloads, and 635mm to 3700mm reach, all controlled from a common PC based controller platform. The company will be showcasing the KUKA KS shelf-mounted robots and the upcoming NPE show June 19-23 in Chicago, Illinois booth #9652.
