Matrikon Announces Amin Rawji as New Chief Executive Officer

Edmonton, AB – December 9, 2005 — The board of directors of Matrikon Inc. (TSX: MTK) is pleased to announce that, as previously announced, Amin Rawji has been appointed as Matrikon’s chief executive officer (CEO) effective immediately. Amin succeeds Nizar J. Somji, who was named non-executive chairman of the board. The board has also appointed Hugh Bolton as lead director.

Amin joined Matrikon in 1995 and over the past ten years has led various groups, including industrial connectivity, services, product development and sales and marketing. He was promoted to president in July of 2005. Amin also played key roles in the acquisitions of Matrikon Deutschland, Resolution Integration Solutions, PIA and Hunter Control.

Nizar founded Matrikon in 1988 as a process control consulting firm and over the next 17 years built the company into a global solution organization dedicated to delivering integrated industrial intelligence solutions.

Hugh retired as Chairman and CEO of Coopers & Lybrand Canada (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) after a 40-year career with Coopers & Lybrand and predecessor firms. He is an independent director of EPCOR Utilities, Teck Cominco Limited, Toronto Dominion Bank, Canadian National Railway, and WestJet Airlines Ltd.
