Highlights 1. Matrikons solution will allow Mount Isa Mines to optimize metallurgical operations and increase production and processing performance through the web-based access to real-time and historical operations data 2. The solution will span both Copper and Lead smelter sites and is expected to be used by up to 50 concurrent users Edmonton, Alberta November 22, 2006 - Matrikon Inc. (TSX: MTK) today announced that its Australian division has entered the final delivery stage for a contract to supply a Process Information Management System (PIMS) at global diversified mining group Xstratas Australian flagship copper and zinc-lead-silver operation, Mount Isa Mines. Sam Crisafulli, Managing Director of Matrikons Australian Operations, reported: The Matrikon PIMS consolidates and presents real-time information from various data sources and delivers information to the desktops of operational personnel, where it matters most. This PIMS allows Mount Isa Mines to make effective business decisions on how to best optimise smelter operations to increase production and performance. Terry ONeill, General Manager Metallurgical Operations, Xstrata Copper Mount Isa said: PIMS combines numerous applications and provides access to common views, tools and reports, through a web-based user interface, for everyone from the floor operator to the General Manager. This facilitates process tracking with a coherent transition from continuous smelting through to the batch. This transparency enables the business to engage in proactive decision making, with an increased focus on data analysis. Matrikon has integrated products from its ProcessSuite and MatrikonOPC at the North Queensland site, including ProcessMORe (Missed Opportunity Reporting) for the recording of all plant downtime information and ProcessNet for web based visualisation, aggregation and integration of data from existing production and ERP databases. The Mount Isa Mines PIMS is about to go live and is expected to be used by up to fifty concurrent users to improve the quality and timeliness of reporting. The solution will also offer tools for fast and effective analysis of both batch and continuous process data through instant web-based access to all relevant site production data. About Xstrata Mount Isa Mines Mount Isa Mines operates two separate mining and processing streams, copper and zinc-lead-silver, at Mount Isa in north west Queensland, Australia.
