Matrikon to Participate at Instrumentation Control and Automation Conference July 25 - 28, 2005


Edmonton, AB - July 7, 2005 - Matrikon Inc. is pleased to participate in Institute of Instrumentation Control and Automation (IICA) conference and exhibition, July 25 - 28, 2005, in Melbourne, Australia. Four presentations are featured at this year's conference by Matrikon industry experts.

Graham Jefferson, Control & Safety Systems Specialist, will speak on "Medium Sized Boilers - Their Control and Protection", featuring potential benefits of incorporating well-designed control systems and instrumentation to these medium sized boilers. Conference attendees can join this presentation on Tuesday, July 26th, at 11:30 AM: Session 3/Stream A.

Sam Crisafulli, Managing Director, Matrikon Pty Ltd will present "Control Asset Maintenance: A Conditioned-based Monitoring Approach". He will cover a number of Australian case-studies where this technology has been applied, with a focus on a major Australian gold mining company where monitoring of regulatory and supervisory control layers has yielded significant benefits. This presentation to occur on Wednesday, July 27th at 9:00 AM: Session 10/Stream B.

Warren Rigelsford, Director, Matrikon Pty Limited, will deliver the paper "Automating Downtime & Production Reporting to Deliver Effective Maintenance". The presentation on Wednesday, July 27th, at 11:00 AM: Session 12/Stream B, will cover a number of Australian case-studies where this technology has been applied. A particular focus will be on Bulga Coal in the Hunter Valley, NSW, where the solution has assisted in delivering measurable improvements in plant availability.

Craig Baade, Superintendent-Process Control and Information Systems will co-present "Performance Monitoring of Control Loops at a New Alumina Refinery" with Terry Paton, Principal Advisor - Process Control, of Rio Tinto Asset Utilisation. They will give an overview of the Comalco Alumina Refinery plant and control system, and outline the steps and issues experienced in installing the controller monitoring system in parallel with plant commissioning. This presentation to be delivered on Wednesday, July 27th at 12:00 PM: Session 12/Stream B.
