EDMONTON – MatrikonOPC introduced a BACnet OPC Server software package. This product is based on Cimetrics' BACnet protocol stack, BACstac. The resultant server for BACnet is an easy-to-use solution for customers, creating large multi-vendor systems consisting of SCADA work stations to control both industrial networks and HVAC building automation systems.

The use of the BACnet protocol in HVAC installations has been increasing for many years. Typical installations now include connecting multiple facilities to centralized monitoring and control workstations. The MatrikonOPC Server for BACnet has been designed to integrate these networks into a cohesive system. The BACnet concept of BBMDs (BACnet/IP Broadcast Management Device) has been included in this product to facilitate the interconnection of networks from multiple locations. Other advanced software features include the ability to use multiple Ethernet ports in the central SCADA workstation, compliance with the latest OPC technologies, communications quality tags, the ability to use multiple remote OPC Servers (optional communications tunneling software recommended) and much more. Flexibility and ease of use were paramount in the development of this OPC Server.

The benefits of the MatrikonOPC Server for BACnet are:
  • Single operator workstation for all systems through visualization dashboards
  • Full compliance with the latest BACnet specification and best practices
  • Multiple BACnet network capabilities (BBMD + dual NIC card)
  • Remote OPC Server capabilities (+ enhanced tunneling option)
  • Provides users the ability to easily create large-scale centralized control systems containing remote building systems.
