Montreal, Canada, May 30th, 2007 – Matrox Graphics released PowerDesk-SE 2.04 display driver featuring a new Joined graphics card mode and improved widescreen resolution support. The enhancements in this driver provide more control for displaying information across multiple screens—a critical requirement for professionals in industries such as energy management and process control.

More Display Options
PowerDesk-SE 2.04 includes Joined graphics card mode, a feature that enables two Matrox multi-display graphics cards to work in tandem in several Microsoft Windows desktop combinations. Using the following modes, you can either stretch or clone multiple displays:
  • Stretch: use both graphics cards to form one desktop across multiple monitors
  • Clone: view a copy of one display on all other displays
  • Twin-stretch: use one graphics card to stretch one desktop across multiple displays and clone this desktop to displays driven by second graphics card.
  • Twin-independent: use one graphics card to view information independently on multiple displays, and clone the outputs to the independent displays driven by the second graphics card.

Additional features include: PowerRes mode, which offers increased widescreen resolution support, and Pivot mode, which allows for hardware rotation of one or more displays into portrait view. PowerDesk-SE 2.04 extends the functionality of the following Matrox Graphics solutions:
  • Millennium P-Series
  • QID series
  • EpicA TC2 and TC4
  • Extio series of remote graphics units
  • Parhelia series

Note: For Parhelia series users, the PowerDesk-SE 2.04 driver package adds the long sought-after feature of supporting TripleHead™ in independent mode.

"Matrox developed PowerDesk-SE 2.04 in response to requests for more advanced display configurations," said Samuel Recine, business development manager, Matrox Graphics Inc. "We understand that in high-reliability environments, our customers need to see—and know—the entire situation. Customizing displays across multiple screens gives them the flexibility they need to visualize all incoming data and see their bigger picture."

    Additional Information and Availability
PowerDesk-SE 2.04 supports Microsoft operating systems including: Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista using the Windows XP Display Driver Model (XDDM). For details about new features and functionality, please download the PowerDesk-SE 2.04 Key Features Reference Guide.
