MGE Releases the First Power Protection and Management Software for Vista COSTA MESA, Calif. — January 18, 2007 — MGE UPS SYSTEMS announced that the beta version of its Personal Solution-Pac power management software for Microsoft Vista can now be downloaded from MGE's Web site. Personal Solution-Pac is designed for So/Ho and small business users needing an easy-to-use, yet fully featured solution to complement the power protection provided by their MGE Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). MGE's Personal Solution-Pac gives users information on important parameters such as power consumption and remaining battery life of their UPS. Because knowing the status of the UPS battery is critical for computer system uptime, Personal Solution-Pac includes an intuitive screen that displays remaining battery backup time available. This real-time indicator works in conjunction with a power consumption sensor that detects how much of the UPS's rated power is being used by connected equipment. As a result, users can avoid one of the most common problems with UPS installations because the system lets the user know whether additional devices can be safely plugged into the UPS without overloading the system. "As PC users migrate to Vista, users will appreciate that they can depend on MGE to deliver the highest level of power protection and power monitoring to safeguard their digital and audio files,” said Hervé Tardy, vice president of marketing for MGE UPS Systems. "Our software development teams have worked closely with Microsoft to develop optimum power protection solutions. We're proud to have collaborated with Microsoft over the years to co-develop optimum solutions for Microsoft's customers and are ready to provide users of the new Vista operating system comprehensive power protection and management.” Through an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI), the software gives users a real-time view of their on-site power quality and the ability to set-up automatic actions in case of a power emergency. For example, users can define specific conditions under which the software can conduct an automatic shutdown of a PC at the end of battery runtime or send an alert to notify users of power problems. For ease in communicating with connected devices, Personal Solution-Pac automatically detects USB or serial connections. The software instantly avoids communication conflicts by automatically detecting available communication ports.
