Motion Sensors obtains increased ATEX rating of speed sensors
April 21, 2009 – Motion Sensors, Inc. announces an update to its ATEX certifications for amplified, hall effect and magnetoresistive speed sensors to include an ambient temperature range from –40 to 80C. The certification also includes a line of stand-alone preamplifiers for use in speed sensing applications.

These sensors are ATEX certified to Ex ia IIC or IIA T4 or T2 and cover the most stringent environments. The certifications have also been reviewed to verify compliance to the latest standards, EN60079-0 (2006) and EN60079-11 (2007).

Motion Sensors also has ATEX certifications for variable reluctance and RF (eddy current) speed sensors. Ambient temperature range for these sensors is -50 to 175C. They are rated for use in Ex ia IIC or IIB T6 to T3 environments.

Motion Sensors' ATEX certified speed sensors are manufactured under a unique "modular" certification scheme, which allows for customization of the sensors in terms of both physical and electrical characteristics. By maintaining stated parameters, the existing certifications cover custom modifications, which means that custom designs for ATEX certified speed sensors are feasible without the costs and timeframes associated with obtaining new certifications.

In addition to the ATEX certification, Motion Sensors also maintains CSA certifications for intrinsic safety.
