| MTS MG Series Liquid Level Sensors Receive ATEX Approval |
CARY, N.C. (October 5, 2004) Maintaining worldwide approvals for its liquid level sensor products, MTS Sensors announces ATEX approval for its MG Series liquid level gauges. The ATEX approval signifies that MG Series sensors may be sold and used worldwide as an intrinsically safe device. With the use of a separate intrinsically safe barrier, these MTS sensors may be used in hazardous locations where there is a potential for explosions via flammable gases, dust or vapors. The directive was adopted by the European Union and is required for use in all EU countries. Because many operations are now global, the ATEX approval has become very important to the pharmaceutical & chemical processing industry, said Liquid Level Product Manager, Adrian Totten. In an effort to support harmonization of standards, MTS Sensors was among the first to apply for and receive ATEX approval on its level gauges. The ATEX ex symbol carries with it approvals for use in the following hazardous areas of explosion: Group IIA; II1/2 G or 2 G EEx ia IIA T4 and Group IIB; II1/2 G or 2 G EEx ia IIB T4. MTS liquid level gauges are also CSA, FM, JIIS and NEPSI approved.
