STONEL releases the FieldBlock fieldbus wiring enclosure
November 4, 2008 – STONEL releases the FieldBlock (FN) enclosure with easy-entry cover and six (6) individually switchable drops. Part of the STONEL family of FIELDLINK process networking solutions, the durable, corrosion-proof FieldBlock enclosure is used to house networking components in process environments.

The product accommodates a wide range of drop connectors, including passive, protected and switched configurations. They are available for most field-based networking protocols including AS-Interface, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, Profibus-PA, DeviceNet and Modbus.

Among the new enclosure's more notable and noticeable design features are its new easy-access, fully-labeled terminal block and quick-entry hinged cover, both of which allow for faster, more convenient wiring. Additionally, the product's sleek design is more space-efficient, yet maintains ample room for wire connection and drop switching.

The new FieldBlock enclosure features a Clear Operation Status LED display that provides at-a-glance indication of drop connector, bus power and short circuit status – even when the cover is closed and sealed. Also, a bus power monitoring system has an LED display
that flashes if voltage levels fall outside specified limits.

Sealed for heavy wash down applications, the enclosure is rated for NEMA 4, 4X & 6 (IP67), and suitable for hazardous environments in nonincendive (Div 2 / Zone 2) or intrinsically safe (Div 1 / Zone 0) applications. It is also available with multiple connector and cable gland options including quick connectors (mini or micro); high-strength, watertight cable glands; and ½” NPT or M20 conduits.

According to Bob Jenson, Networking Solutions Director at STONEL, "This new product provides extended capabilities with 6 drops, where each drop connection may be individually energized or de-energized with a hermetically-sealed proximity switching device.”

STONEL is a leader in process networking and valve communication technology. STONEL's total FIELDLINK solutions focus on economically and reliably connecting field devices with the computer control architecture regardless of the communication protocol employed. Modular products and support services based on a broad range of experience allow STONEL and its distribution channel integrators to respond quickly and appropriately to each customer's processing plant networking challenge.
