November 18, 2008 - Cognex announced software that expands the decoding capabilities of the DataMan 100 vision-based ID readers and provides additional code support for all models in the DataMan product family. With the new software release 3.2, DataMan 100 fixed-mount ID readers can now simultaneously read up to 128 codes in a single field of view - even with mixed code types - opening up many new application possibilities. In addition to the new multicode feature for the DataMan 100 Series, release 3.2 provides improved performance on all DataMan models for QR codes having perspective distortion, especially with high-contrast labels. The 3.2 release also includes support for VeriCode for customers who purchase a license key from Veritec, Inc. Cognex DataMan ID readers are available in the widest range of fixed-mount and handheld models for reading everything from printed 1D and 2D barcodes to the most challenging DPM codes. Powerful decoding software, advanced image formation, and exceptional ease of use, ensure optimum performance for all code reading requirements. Many manufacturers continue to use a traditional 1D barcode label for the product ID, but have added a direct-marked 2D code to store the serial number, batch number, and date and lot code. They want to read both codes simultaneously for tracking and tracing products through their manufacturing process, and our new multicode feature is perfect for them, said Carl Gerst, Cognex ID Reader Business Unit Manager. Others want to read codes on multiple products that appear in the same field of view due to their small size, such as components on a printed circuit board or medical vials in a tray. DataMan 100 can now read all of them at once. About Cognex Cognex Corporation designs, develops, manufactures, and markets machine vision sensors and systems, or devices that can "see." Cognex vision sensors are used in factories around the world to automate the manufacture of a wide range of items and to assure their quality. Cognex is the world's leader in the machine vision industry, having shipped more than 450,000 machine vision systems, representing over $2.5 billion in cumulative revenue, since the company's founding in 1981. In addition to its corporate headquarters in Natick, Massachusetts, Cognex also has regional offices and distributors located throughout North America, Japan, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. |
