NI introduces PMA-1115 portable touch screen monitor
April 29, 2008 – National Instruments announced the NI PMA-1115 portable touch screen monitor with integrated keyboard that attaches to any NI eight-slot PXI or PXI Express chassis. When used with a new or existing PXI chassis, this accessory is ideal for a variety of portable PXI applications, such as in-vehicle test, mobile diagnostics and personal ATE in the automotive, ATE and aerospace and defense industries.

The PMA-1115 is designed for quick field or lab installation and offers a 15-inch touch screen LCD with tilt features for maximum usability. It has a 0 to 55 degrees Celsius operating temperature range and weighs approximately 10 pounds. The monitor and keyboard I/O connects to the PXI chassis through a USB interface and the portable frame mounts in existing rack mount holes on the chassis. It also includes a carrying handle and feet for easy portability.

“PXI was the natural choice for the Goalkeeper application within the Royal Dutch Navy,” says Richard van der Weide. “The portable monitor and keyboard accessory provided us with the portability and flexibility we needed to equip our entire fleet with a dependable NI LabVIEW and PXI-based solution. Our naval engineers and technicians are very satisfied with the ease-of-use and performance of the NI FPGA PXI-based systems.”

About PXI
PCI eXtensions for Instrumentation (PXI) is an open specification governed by the PXI Systems Alliance that defines a rugged, CompactPCI-based platform optimized for test, measurement and control. Created in 1997, the PXI specification is supported by more than 70 vendors offering more than 1,500 PXI products. PXI is compatible with the CompactPCI and CompactPCI Express industrial computer standards and offers additional features such as environmental specifications, standardized software and built-in timing and synchronization.
