Omron Donates Close To $1 Million Dollars Towards Asian Tsunami Relief

KYOTO, JAPAN (January 7, 2005)--Omron Corporation (TSE: 6645; US:OMRNY), a global leader in automation, sensing, and control technology, will donate one hundred million yen (close to $1 million US dollars) through the Japan Community for UNICEF for victims of the Asian tsunami following the earthquake off Indonesia. Additional pledges from local Omron offices and affiliated companies will also be donated through the Japan Community for UNICEF.

Twenty-first century companies not only realize public responsibility through business activities but also through compliance with applicable laws, through ethical activities, and by protecting the environment, among many other activities. In other words, companies are required to realize a wide range of public responsibility from a global vantage. Omron has firmly positioned its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities in the 2nd stage of the Grand Design 2010 (GD2010), the company’s long term management vision and plan. In this stage, Omron is working to encourage all employees, divisions and companies to understand CSR with a global view and to adapt CSR into their daily activities.

As a globally operational company, an Asian company, a Japanese company, and a company dedicated to corporate social responsibility activities, Omron decided to donate close to $1 million US dollars towards reconstruction of the damage caused by the earthquake off of Indonesia and the ensuing Asian tsunami.

Note: No associates and no facilities of Omron Corporation in Asian countries were affected by the earthquake and tsunami.
