Omron redesigns its web site to shorten searches
February 9, 2009--Omron launches its redesigned Industrial Automation web site to provide visitors and customers with effective tools that shorten search and simplify information access needed to design, specify and apply Omron's wide range of control and sensing products. The new site combines enhanced research, selection, sourcing and shopping tools tuned to deliver a satisfying experience based on input from customers and distributors. Among the functional enhancements are parameter-based selection tools, easier access to information on how to solve applications in various industries, ability to start a relationship with a local Omron distributor on-line, and ability to build and store a list of frequently-used products. "The new web site meets the needs of experienced machine designers and systems integrators as well as students and inventors working to develop new applications of automation technology," says Michael Cotton, web site manager at Omron Electronics LLC.

Search capabilities on www.omron247.com include an enhanced search center powered by a Google Search Appliance, a product selector tool defined by part attributes, and an enhanced cross reference tool utilizing new search techniques. To accomplish this Omron's product database was reorganized to align with U.S. industrial automation product naming conventions to shorten the search and ensuring a higher rate of successful matches. The broad product categories also match Omron’s Industrial Automation Product Catalog enabling visitors to enter a product's Quick Link codes to access detailed specifications on-line.

Omron's redesigned web site offers visitors compelling reasons to register to access high-value content and capabilities. Registered users have access to operation manuals, CAD drawings, EDS files and other software downloads. They can select or associate themselves with a local distributor in their region, send a request for quotation (RFQ) via e-mail in real time, and access e-commerce to purchase a sample or use the Emergency Express expedited same-day delivery service to shorten downtime from an unexpected product failure.
