FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS, (June 10, 2005)Omron Electronics LLC is a sponsoring member of the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Research Center established at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Arkansas, which celebrated its official opening today. The 19 sponsoring members will participate in the Centers research activities and include retail, market and industry leaders, all intimately involved in the technical development and practical application of RFID technology, and in public policy which will govern its future. The center, a unit of the universitys Sam M. Walton College of Business, plans to become an internationally recognized leader in RFID application research and the study of its impact on business and society. It includes a live-environment laboratory and will offer product testing. It will draw on expertise from its sponsoring members. The centers official opening was recognized with an RFID Forum featuring comments by the sponsors, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour of the research facility.
