June 29, 2009 — To gain accurate, real-time visibility of its inventory of materials and finished goods, OYO Geospace implemented the dcLINK data collection solution from Data Systems International (DSI). dcLINK eliminates paper-based processes, increases accuracy and efficiency, and enables uninterrupted data collection and transaction execution as part of the work process.

“We’re able to keep everything real-time by using dcLINK,” said Todd DeLoach, Warehouse Manager, OYO Geospace. “Now we know immediately that needed items are available and that they have been committed to the work order or the sales order. That’s real-time for us, and it’s a great, great benefit.”

Using dcLINK, OYO Geospace achieved its primary goals for inventory accuracy and process improvement:
  • Improved inventory accuracy 39% by eliminating paper-based processes and data entry delays.
  • Eliminated time and expense of a full physical inventory by using dcLINK for directed cycle counting.
  • Gained visibility of individual serialized finished goods and streamlined processes associated with their movement.

The complete solution that DSI provided to OYO Geospace includes dcLINK with integration to Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, as well as Intermec barcode scanners for data collection.

“With dcLINK, our inventory accuracy is the best it’s ever been,” said Bobby Hoeflich, IT Director, OYO Geospace. “The benefits that we have seen so far have gone beyond initial expectations, and we’ve only touched the tip of the iceberg of what dcLINK can do.”

dcLINK accurately tracks inventory, assets, and time on the shop floor, in the warehouse, and in the field. dcLINK supports RFID, barcode, voice, mobile applications and automated machine interface technology on a single platform. dcLINK has validated, real-time integration with leading enterprise applications, including Oracle's E-Business Suite, Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, and JD Edwards World.
