P+F releases RAL Series Slot Style Photoelectric Sensors
December 30, 2007 - TWINSBURG, OH ¨C Pepperl+Fuchs introduces RAL Series Slot Style Photoelectric Sensors. The RAL series features a multiple-beam light grid and one-piece metal slot housing with slot widths from 50mm to 150mm for simplified mounting and alignment. They feature 5 kHz switching frequency, a built-in one shot timer, beam suppression and sensitivity adjustment, and can detect targets as small as 0.5mm with response time as fast as 0.1ms, making them a perfect sensing solution for small parts detection and counting.

"The RAL series offers static and dynamic modes of operation. In static mode, the output stays on so long as the target is in the active slot area. In dynamic mode the RAL can be mounted in areas where machine parts or even belt paths may be blocking some of the RAL's beams due to 'beam masking,'" said Tom Corbett, Pepperl+Fuchs Product Manager for Photoelectric Sensing. "Beam masking is also helpful should dirt build up on some of the beams, as only the affected beams will stop functioning. And when the light received by the sensor drops below 50%, the output will automatically change from Dynamic mode to Static mode," he said.

RAL slot-style sensors offer one transistor, N/O or N/C PNP output. They are also IP67 rated and carry the CE mark.

Pepperl+Fuchs is a world leader in the design, manufacture and application of high quality factory and process automation products and services. Pepperl+Fuchs pioneered the development of proximity sensors 45 years ago, and has set the standard for innovation and quality ever since.
