| Phoenix Contact enhances QUINT SFB power supply | ||
|
||
May 14, 2009 - Phoenix Contact expanded its family of QUINT SFB industrial grade power supplies. Featuring a 20 A output at 12 V DC, the power supply is appropriate for a variety of applications, including solar, wind turbine, telecommunications and process control. The QUINT SFB features Selective Fuse Breaking (SFB). The SFB technology allows supplemental branch circuit protection on the DC bus to operate as designed in a control system. Upon sensing a fault condition, the SFB technology delivers a short peak of current (up to six times nominal current) to the faulted load. This ensures the standard branch protection interrupts the circuit as designed. This means the power supply continues to deliver power to the other loads, ensuring overall system availability. An additional benefit of the SFB technology's static power reserves is reliable starting of heavy loads with high inrush currents. Like the other QUINT SFB products, the new version incorporates additional diagnostic feedback elements. The power supply offers early warning diagnostics through a local PowerBoost yellow LED and a PowerBoost dry contact. This additional signaling provides an early warning before the power supply enters the U/I characteristic curve. Phoenix Contact is a world leader in electrical connection, electronic interface and industrial automation technologies. A global company with annual sales exceeding 1 billion euro, Phoenix Contact GmbH & Co., Blomberg, Germany, operates 46 international subsidiaries, including Phoenix Contact USA in Middletown, Pa. Phoenix Contact's formal Integrated Management Systems meet International Standards Organization (ISO) quality, environmental and safety requirements (ISO 9001:2008,14001:2004 and 18001:2007). |
