Pittsford, NY: KLARI-CORD2 tests and records power consumption and battery charge data for automotive applications at ambient temperatures ranging from -40 to +85°C. Although KLARI-CORD2's principal area of application is for the measurement of battery charge data in vehicles in the field, it can also be used to perform a wide variety of other general precision measurement tasks.
Widely used by European automakers, this auto-ranging 16-bit KLARI-CORD2 is not only able to measure DC currents from mA to several kA, it can simultaneously measure voltages and temperatures precisely using smart external sensors. All acquired measurements are stored on an integrated SD card, and measured values can also be output via CAN bus (switchable) and RS232 interface (instantaneous values).
KLARI-CORD2 has been optimized for long-duration measurements: the module's power consumption is typically under 3mA (12V supply voltage, 1 measuring cycle/sec.) Individual measurements situations can be accommodated by using various available external measurement shunts that feature plug & play functionality. The shunts are suitable for ambient temperatures from -40 to +130°C.
PC software supplied with KLARI-CORD2 can be used for measurement configuration and reading out stored data on the integrated SD card via USB interface. These values can be displayed and exported in various standard data formats for further data evaluation using math software such as Excel, DIAdem, etc. Optional KLARI-VIEWER software provides even more possibilities for data visualization.
KLARI-CORD2 modules are supplied in a compact 85x110x35mm IP65 metal housing. The rear of the unit has a USB mini plug, with CAN, RS232 and power supply being fed via a 15-pin Sub-D plug. Connections for voltages and temperature are via a 5- contact DIN socket (180°, IP65) at the front of the unit. A 6-contact connector is used for connecting the measurement shunt. A USB interface is available for measurement configuration as well as for readout of measured values.
KLARI-CORD2 is supplied with an integrated 256 MB SD card, CD documentation, and configuration and display software. The current and charge values are stored with battery voltage and temperature as binary files. Measurements of 1 sample/sec. require an SD card of 4 MB for one day's data. To prevent an influence on measured data low- power KLARI-CORD2 shall be powered from an external battery. A rechargeable battery is optionally available.
