Siemens adds Product Template Studio to NX PLM software
November 3, 2010 - NX product design software, from Siemens PLM Software, now offers an easy-to-use knowledge and model re-use tool that can drastically improve productivity. Designers can use the drag-and-drop codeless Product Template Studio (PTS) tool to design and store a simplified user interface inside any NX design. When designs are then edited or reused, this interface can save important time otherwise spent trying to understand the correct way to interact with what might be a complex parametric model –removing the largest practical barrier to CAD reuse. In fact, early adopters of PTS report tremendous time savings as effort previously spent inspecting complex models prior to reuse (or spent recreating models out of frustration) is eliminated.

In addition to design models, Product Templates can also include design validation, documentation, and simulation (including Finite Element Analysis and/or Kinematic/Dynamic analysis.) Product Templates then become intelligent, self-validating, modular units of design that can be snapped together to form larger systems of templates. Again, this process uses drag-and-drop tools, and no customization coding. Product Templates can also be deployed using the NX Reuse Library, which provides a common repository for re-usable knowledge across the enterprise.
