.jpg) Cctober 1, 2009 - GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms announced Proficy iFIX Embedded software that extends the reach of the Proficy iFIX 5.0 solution to include machine panels, embedded controllers and specialty devices. Proficy iFIX at all levels delivers significant savings in application development time and ensures everyone on the team is making decisions based on the same system and data. GE Fanuc customers were looking for software that could operate on plant floor devices, such as line side operator terminals, wireless tablets or industrial touchpanels. Microsoft’s ongoing long-term commitment to Windows XP Embedded has helped drive this market forward. This is enabling full-featured applications, which drive significant value, to run on plant floor devices. iFIX Embedded enables iFIX to be everywhere and customers only need to develop one application and then choose to deploy it on an embedded device or a traditional PC device. iFIX Embedded is ideal for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) because it provides a scalable and capable platform for applications of all sizes. The net result is reduced OEM engineering costs and increased functionality for the end customer – a win-win. iFIX Embedded in conjunction with the recently released OEM Solutions Pack for iFIX 5.0 is a powerful software combination for OEMs– enabling quicker time to solution and increased HMI/SCADA functionality. Proficy iFIX Embedded delivers a comprehensive feature set and stays true to GE Fanuc’s open and layered philosophy by also including IGS 7.5, a full-featured OPC server with over 75 protocols to facilitate PLC/device connectivity. This along with the features of Windows XP Embedded differentiates the solution from Windows CE and traditional XP/Vista based solutions on the plant floor. Integration with other systems is also delivered with iFIX Embedded, enabling users to connect to other peer level systems, line level SCADA, relational databases, MES and or ERP systems. iFIX Embedded for Windows XP Embedded delivers: With Proficy iFIX Embedded running the core of Proficy iFIX 5.0, users can develop applications in the same familiar iFIX 5.0 WorkSpace development environment. Additionally network-enabled iFIX Embedded installations can take advantage of patented iFIX technology, which enables online customization. This maximizes development efficiency, which doesn’t require processes to be stopped or recompiled in order to make changes to the database, pictures, or other parts of the HMI application.
