Red Lion Controls Introduces New CUB5 Digital Panel Meters

Red Lion Controls Introduces New CUB5 Digital Panel Meters
YORK, PA—December 1, 2005—Red Lion Controls, Inc. introduces the new CUB5 digital series of panel meters offering features similar to those found in their award winning PAX meters, but at half the size of the larger panel models.

“The new CUB5 meter can do everything the larger meters can do, but now gives users ‘ultimate flexibility’ with its complete programming capabilities,” said Jeff Thornton, Product Manager for Red Lion. “With these intelligent features, users are now able to control everything from digital display intensity to update time and input functions.”

The CUB5 dual counter/rate model can be programmed to function as a dual counter or as a counter with rate indication. It features programmable decimal point and scaling for both count and rate displays along with input programming to accept bi-directional or quadrature signals.

The CUB5T timer model can be programmed to function as an elapsed timer or as a preset timer. It offers eight different input operating modes and 18 selectable timer ranges, bi-directional timing capability, and a built-in cycle counter.

Both models offer users the option of adding a Relay Output Module, a Communications Module, or one of each.

The Relay Output Module features a Form C relay capable of switching up to 1 amp. This Module also allows the CUB5 to be programmed to change backlight display color when a setpoint is reached, providing machine operators with a quick visual indication.

The Communications Module is available in RS232 and RS485 formats and provides serial ASCII communications for sending and receiving data through the meter.

All CUB5 models can be programmed using the front panel keys, however with the addition of the Communications Module the CUB5 can be easily programmed with Red Lion’s free Crimson 2.0 software. This user-friendly software makes programming easy and allows for program data to be saved for later retrieval or the ability to easily program multiple units. The software is compatible with CUB5 meters as well as Digital and Analog PAX meters.

All new CUB5 meters feature NEMA4X/IP65 sealed front bezels with 0.46” high LCD digits available in a reflective display version or in a user programmable red or green backlight display version. This powerful little meter operates from a 9 to 28 VDC power source, provides short circuit and input polarity protection, and has a count speed of up to 20 KHz.

The CUB5 can also be powered with an optional Red Lion model MLPS1 power supply which attaches directly to the back of the unit. The MLPS1 is powered from 85 to 250VAC and provides up to 400mA to drive the unit and any attached sensors.
