Rexroth Introduces IndraWorks - State-of-the-Art Engineering Suite

Rexroth Introduces IndraWorks - State-of-the-Art Engineering Suite
Rexroth IndraWorks, the all new engineering suite, was developed from the ground up to speed up and simplify your engineering tasks across the entire range of Rexroth drive and control technologies. This modular system draws a clear line between the open framework infrastructure and the actual commissioning, programming, parameterization and diagnostic tools. Users now have access to comprehensive data management and open communication mechanisms that span the entire spectrum of engineering tasks and tools.

When designing IndraWorks, Rexroth made a clear distinction between the infrastructure, the framework, and the actual tools. The advantage of this approach is that Rexroth can develop these in parallel, independently of each other. IndraWorks users always work with only the tools they need for the task at hand, and the tools can be used separately. The software suite features scalable integration of the various engineering tools into the framework, and the level of integration is aimed exclusively at the concrete automation task. Rexroth has succeeded in reducing complexity and simplifying the engineering workflow.

The .NET Framework, Microsoft’s software platform of the future for Windows applications, offers stability, high productivity during development and extensive COM and ActiveX support for migration of existing software components. The framework also supports key automation engineering standards such as OPC, and the framework of IndraWorks facilitates integration of third party software such as visualization systems or configuration software supplied by field device manufacturers. As a Microsoft development partner, Rexroth has been using this technology for more than two years.

The use of XML as a standardized data exchange format guarantees the modules can be integrated across different platforms and technology boundaries. A common project database manages any number of internal and external automation components. SCP (Scaleable Communication Platform) offers a comprehensive communication topology for all devices. A large number of basic components, which are used by all engineering tools, standardize many common functions – such as printing system data and programs or configuring user administration.

Intelligent online help and wizards bundle Rexroth’s industry-specific know-how and make it easier to implement entire automation projects. Appropriate engineering tools are supplied with all Rexroth components and systems.

In North America, the Bosch Group manufacturers and markets automotive original equipment and aftermarket products, industrial automation and mobile products, power tools and accessories, security technology, packaging equipment and household appliances. Bosch Rexroth Corporation, a merger of Bosch Automation Technology and Rexroth, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH. In the year 2004, Bosch Rexroth AG achieved sales of approximately $5.3 billion (4.1 billion Euros) with 26,400 employees.

Under the brand name of Rexroth, the company offers all relevant drive, control and motion technologies: from mechanics, hydraulics and pneumatics to electronics and associated services. Rexroth has 500,000 customers in over 80 countries and is an extensive supplier of components and systems for industrial and factory automation and mobile applications.
