| GE Fanuc to provide Proficy for furnace and plant utility system in China | ||

September 14, 2009-- GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms announced that Sansteel Group Corporation chose the company’s process control system, Proficy Process Systems for its furnace revamp project in Shanghai. The solution, which is valued at approximately $300,000, will provide critical control for both the metal furnace and the plant utility system, featuring GE Fanuc’s PACSystems RX3i controller. Sansteel is a leading steelmaker in China, focusing on the production of hi-tech and high value-added premium steel, with an annual production capacity more than five million tons. The company believes that using Proficy Process Systems as the core of the revamp project will reduce the cost of the revamp by 25% compared to traditional systems. “GE Fanuc continues its strategic drive and expansion in the Process automation space,” commented Steve Ryan, General Manager for GE Fanuc’s Process and Safety business. “This win highlights not only the technical capabilities of our solutions, but the fact that customers around the globe are benefiting from them.” “Proficy Process Systems is a fully-integrated process control system that, based on its flexible configuration, architecture and choice of controller platforms, can address the needs of customers in different industries through the ability to choose either the PAC8000 controllers or PACSystems controllers,” commented Kam Yuen, Product Manager. “These systems will improve operational performance and productivity and provide customers with a sustainable advantage for their business.” “The foundation of Proficy Process Systems is a contemporary hardware and software infrastructure that offers the benefits of both traditional DCS and PLC/HMI systems, without many of the historic limitations of those approaches,” continued Ryan. “Sansteel saw the great advantage that GE Fanuc’s multi-disciplined PACSystems controllers can bring to their application by giving them unparalleled flexibility in their control system.
