Schaefer introduces C/B 4800 Series of converters
April 3, 2007 - Ashland, MA - Schaefer, Inc. introduces the C/B 4800 Series of 6U DC/ DC and AC/DC converter modules ranging in output power from 2.4kW to 5kW. This robust design uses industrial grade components and provides a high density, space-saving solution for applications in industries such as railway controls and communications equipment (onboard and trackside), military applications, oil rigs applications, fuel cell applications, transportation, telecommunication systems, process control systems, and power stations.

Nine DC input ranges are standard: 10-16V, 20-32V, 40-64V, 50-80V, 80-160V, 160-320V, 320-640V and 450-800V. AC input options are 1- Phase 115VAC or 230VAC, as well as 3-Phase inputs of 3 x 200VAC, 3 x 400VAC, or 3 x 480VAC. Battery charging models are also available. Units feature single outputs in 10 standard ranges from 12-400VDC. All outputs are adjustable and tightly regulated to 0.2% or better (load) and 0.1% (line). Custom input and output ranges are readily available, typically not impacting delivery and at no additional cost.

All modules in the C/B 4800 Series feature a standard operating temperature of –20°C to +75°C (derate above +55°C), with an option for –40°C. All C4800 models have comprehensive protection circuitry including overvoltage, overload, short circuit protection, and thermal shutdown with auto restart. Efficiencies are up to 95%. EMI performance is to EN55022 Class A standards (Class B optional) with optional CE Marking.

Units are packaged in a rugged 6U x 56TE x 306mm (HxWxD) module with an optional wall mount configuration. Other options include input inrush current limiting, DC input reverse polarity protection, output parallel/redundant operation, remote on/off, Power Fail/DC-OK alarms, system reset, and programming/monitoring functions. Further mechanical “ruggedization” and extended environmental operating conditions for higher temperatures and humidity is also available.

Mechanical and electrical modifications to standard modules are readily available upon request. In addition, Schaefer can design and manufacture fully custom solutions. C/B4800 Series pricing starts at $3865.00 for 100 pieces.
