Schneider Electric names Chris Curtis manager of Building Automation business
December 17, 2008 — The Chairman and CEO of Schneider Electric, Jean-Pascal Tricoire, announced that Chris Curtis, president and CEO of the Schneider Electric North American Operating Division (NAOD), will assume managerial responsibility of Schneider Electric’s global Building Automation and Renewables business, effective Jan. 1, 2009. In addition to maintaining his current responsibilities as president and CEO of NAOD, Curtis will also be responsible for developing the global business and complete solutions for Schneider Electric’s building segment. Curtis is also a member of the Schneider Electric Executive Committee.

Schneider Electric is strengthening its position by leveraging its entire portfolio of products and services in Integrated Systems for Power Management and Automation and Renewables to help building owners use their natural resources as productively and efficiently as possible.

“As the global business climate continues to face unprecedented energy challenges, Schneider Electric’s customers are seeking new ways to make their energy more reliable, productive and efficient,” said Curtis. “Building Automation and Power Management systems, along with leveraging renewable technologies like wind and solar, are key to helping our customers make the most of their energy, improve performance and reduce their impact on our environment.”

Curtis joined Schneider Electric in 1993 as director, Industrial Marketing. He was promoted in 1995 to vice president, Mid-Atlantic Sales. In 1996, he became director, OEM Marketing, with responsibility for developing and implementing the U.S. business strategy for all products and services sold to OEMs. In 1998, Curtis was named vice president, Marketing, for the Division with responsibility for the residential construction, commercial and industrial construction market segments, OEMs and strategic accounts. In 2002, he was named president of Schneider Electric Canada. He was promoted in 2003 to vice president, U.S. Sales and Services, and returned to the United States. In 2004, he assumed additional responsibility for leading the company’s U.S. electrical distribution and its subsidiaries EFI, Veris and PowerBox. In 2006, Curtis was named president, Schneider Electric U.S., and in 2008 he was promoted to president and CEO of the Schneider Electric North American Operating Division.

Curtis holds a bachelor’s degree from Le Moyne University in Syracuse, New York. He is also a member of the NEMA board of governors and serves on the Metro Chicago Board of Directors, American Heart Association Midwest Affiliate.
