Schneider Electric promotes Jason Klann to Senior Vice President

PALATINE, Ill. - August 23, 2006 - Schneider Electric North American Operating Division today announced Jason Klann has been promoted to senior vice president, business development and strategy. In this role, Klann and his team will continue to drive external growth through acquisitions, as well as working with the North American Operating Division business leaders to continually develop and grow Schneider Electric business strategies in a competitive and changing marketplace.

Our collective efforts have helped us excel in key areas, including growth, profitability and customer satisfaction improvements,” said Dave Petratis, president and CEO of the North American Operating Division. “To meet the challenges today and those of tomorrow, we need to continue to expand the business through smart acquisitions, while constantly developing and evolving our business strategies. We are confident in Jason’s abilities and expertise to help us reach these goals.”

Klann has six years of experience with the Schneider Electric North American Operating Division. He joined the company in 2001 as director, corporate development and strategy, and was in charge of managing acquisition, divestiture and strategy development projects. Shortly thereafter, Klann assumed responsibility as business director for standard equipment, leading a cross-functional team focused on profitable growth of the company. In 2005, Klann was named the president of EFI Electronics, Schneider Electric’s surge protection subsidiary business. As president, Klann led the business to strong performance by invigorating new product development and strategic focus on core market segments.

Prior to joining Schneider Electric, Klann worked as a management consultant with the Arthur Anderson Global Corporate Finance Group and an independent consultant advising new startup businesses. In these roles, he assisted companies with acquisitions, business development and corporate finance needs. Klann began his career at the investment bank RBC Dain Rauscher, has a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Minnesota-Carlson School of Management and an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Headquartered in Palatine, Ill., the North American Operating Division of Schneider Electric had sales of $2.8 billion ( U.S. ) in 2005. The North American Operating Division is one of four operating divisions of Schneider Electric, headquartered in Paris, France, and markets the Square D, Telemecanique and Merlin Gerin brand products to customers in the United States, Canada and Mexico. In the United States, Schneider Electric is best known by its flagship Square D brand, with Telemecanique becoming increasingly known in the industrial control and automation markets and supported by many Square D distributors.
