July 17, 2008 - Semaphore released a white paper that describes the application of new SCADA security technology, which enables compliance with emerging industry standards. The paper is free, but requires registration.

In light of provisions in NERC CIP and ANSI/ISA 99, this white paper focuses on SCADA RTU installations and the processes they monitor and control. Users can assess threats, both cyber and physical, and implement measures for detection as well as prevention of intrusions and attacks in their SCADA systems. The white paper outlines a sensible, cost-effective approach that is based on the latest developments in SCADA.

Using Semaphore's T-BOX and Kingfisher SCADA system product lines as examples, the white paper provides a number of applications scenarios and concludes with a checklist of measures for detection and prevention.

Semaphore's T-BOX is the first, IP-based telemetry solution that enables the complete integration of SCADA, control, and communications functionality in one rugged package. It leverages easy-to-use Web technologies and inexpensive public networks for decentralized, monitoring and control systems.

The Kingfisher RTU line provides many advanced features for SCADA system solutions, including redundant configurations, intelligent I/O, and open programming that is compliant with IEC 61131-3 and IEC 61499. Kingfisher systems are well suited to large, demanding measurement and control applications that employ central stations.

Both product lines include numerous security provisions, which support system-wide monitoring and prevention. To download the white paper visit www.cse-semaphore.com/whitepapers/scada.php. Registration required.

Semaphore's T-BOX and Kingfisher RTU products are ideal for a broad range of monitoring and control applications in the broadcast / telecom, infrastructure management, oil & gas, power, transportation and water / wastewater industries.
