| Sensor Products introduces Sigma-Nip roller alignment tool | ||
|
||
(Madison, NJ, USA) June 11, 2007 Sigma-Nip® speeds up and makes more accurate the routine maintenance of roller alignment and roller crowning. Sigma-Nip has sensors that are deployed right on the nip surface, giving instantaneous real-time feedback on nip condition. The sensors, which are linked on a plastic carrier sheet, can measure and detect nip width at up to 30 discreet points across the cross-direction (CD). The sensors are more durable and long-lasting. They can also easily be dispersed across the nip by just one person. Its software interface is highly refined and Microsoft Vista compliant. It is also more robust, allowing for comparative analysis and detailed adjustments while the sensor is in the closed (non-rotating) nip. Sigma-Nip is extremely lightweight and portable. This means it can be quickly carried and used throughout the plant to align roller sets. It connects through a wireless connection or USB port to any Windows-based laptop or tablet. This powerful tool tolerates pressures of 3,000 PSI (211 kg/cm2), making it potentially usable on calendar rolls. But most importantly, our clients who have tested Sigma-Nip® believe it will help them minimize mill downtime, avoid costly web breaks, and extend cover life. Our other nip-related Sensor Products include: AutoNis XP - a sophisticated optical scanner and software program which quickly reads and interprets Pressurex film. Cascade a nip sensor system that uses Tactilus software and technology to continuously monitor and evaluate the pressure of any two mating rolls in real time P-Nip a handheld portable electronic device that measures nip width between small rollers in real time. Pressurex - a thin flexible film that reveals pressure distribution and magnitude between any two contacting surfaces. Useful for determining roller alignment and parallelism. EZ Nip - an inexpensive impression paper that reveals static nip width. About Sensor Products Inc. (USA) Headquartered in New Jersey and established in 1990, Sensor Products Inc. is a world leader in the manufacture and distribution of tactile pressure sensing solutions. Their customized and off-the-shelf products are installed within all of the Fortune 500 industrial companies as well as thousands of smaller manufacturing firms. Their sensors are used in applications as diverse as tire testing to semiconductor manufacturing and from R&D labs to space missions. Additionally, Sensor Products provides in-house and on-site stress and pressure mapping analysis, as well as a variety of technical seminars. |
