| SICK STEGMANN introduces HIPERDRIVE positioning drive | ||
|
||
September 11, 2007 - DAYTON, OH SICK STEGMANN, INC. introduces HIPERDRIVE a high performance positioning drive solution that facilitates fully automatic product and format changes on production machines, with precision adjustment accuracy and reproducibility unavailable with traditional hand wheels. As a result, users will benefit from unrivaled time savings with maximized product quality and machine uptime. Small batch sizes and frequent product changes can dramatically affect the productivity levels of packaging and other processing machinery. Traditionally, numerous adjustments need to be made to the machine before new production can begin, and equipping times can be lengthy in more complex, multi-axis machines, particularly if carried out manually, says Scott Hewitt, President, SICK STEGMANN, INC. HIPERDRIVE represents an ideal alternative to manual hand wheel adjustments, particularly in machines with several axes. HIPERDRIVE is not intended to be a replacement for the classical servo drives on process axes on machinery, but rather a reasonably priced alternative for automating the adjustment of auxiliary axes. HIPERDRIVE consists of a fully integrated motor, gears and an absolute measurement system, along with performance and regulatory electronics. Its comparatively compact housing allows simple integration into new and existing machines in the printing, packaging and metal-processing industries, among others. An IP65 enclosure rating allows HIPERDRIVE to provide reliable operation in harsh environmental conditions. SICK STEGMANN, INC. is a wholly owned subsidiary of SICK AG in Waldkirch, Germany. SICK STEGMANN is a world leader in the design and manufacture of incremental, absolute and linear encoders, as well as motor feedback systems. |
