Siemens Industry, Inc News
| Siemens Showcases Comprehensive Process Automation at ISA Expo 2005 |
ATLANTA, Ga., Oct. 25, 2005Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc., delivers comprehensive process automation solutions to the chemical, pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, oil & gas, refining, power and pulp & paper industries. What makes these solutions unique is a foundation of high-performance technology that provides customers with a competitive advantage in their markets. At this years ISA EXPO (being held at the McCormick Place Lakeside Center, October 25, 26 and 27), Siemens will display Totally Integrated Automation in all levels from Applied Automation and Process Instrumentation to Process Control, IT Integration and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). Siemens will also showcase high performance DCS as the industry standard for process control systems. Siemens Energy & Automation (Booth #732) Siemens Applied Automation supplies complete turnkey systems, shelters, along with start-up and commissioning services. Representatives from the Applied Automation group will be available to discuss and demonstrate how MAXUM (universal flexibility) and MicroSAM have earned them more than a 75 percent market share in the Houston area for large HRVOC projects. Siemens has gone beyond the current standard of DCS and has included several new offerings in their configuration for new users and companies looking to upgrade or migrate from older systems. A high performance automation system like SIMATIC® PCS 7 encompasses a host of solutions for life cycle cost improvements. The fully integrated safety system, not only offers a scaleable, flexible solution, but also provides embedded safety life cycle tools to assist companies in meeting industrial safety standards such as ANS/ISA S84-2004. Siemens will demonstrate how they have created a systematic and cost-saving approach to the investment companies make to maintain and upgrade their process control system. Through interactive displays and presentations, Siemens plans to demonstrate how PCS 7 can improve new or current systems with their innovative approach that enhances performance, meets safety requirements and saves companies money throughout the life cycle of the system. They will also show how these benefits can be rolled into other areas such as process instrumentations and MES. Siemens, the worlds largest manufacturer of electrical and electronic products, is also a world leader in process instrumentation. Siemens provides quality instruments for pressure, temperature, level, flow, valve positioners, process loop controllers, process protection devices, and weighing and feeding equipment. Siemens global expertise in process, discrete, and hybrid industries provides a large foundation of knowledge that can provide you with solutions for all of your process instrumentation needs. The new Sitrans P300 can be easily installed locally using three keys and a display. Attendees will learn how the comprehensive diagnostics and simulation functions permit quick and simple start-up of measuring circuits to help avoid plant downtime. Field experts will explain how the pressure transmitter parameters can be set using SIMATIC PDM software and an integral HART or PROFIBUS-PA interface and how the transmitter provides proven, accurate and stable measurements. HART (Booth #130) Siemens manufactures many quality process instrumentation devices with HART capability. Highlighted in the HART booth this year are examples of the SITRANS P DSIII pressure transmitter, the SITRANS Probe LU ultrasonic level transmitter, and the SIPART PS2 digital valve positioner. The high performance support of HART in the PCS 7 system can save users money during the operation and maintenance phases of the production life cycle. Siemens offers a standard HART remote I/O module that can be used in intrinsically safe applications. Siemens will demonstrate how this can be used to save customers money during the installation and commissioning phase of the production life cycle. They will also be demonstrating how PCS 7 BOX is the most scalable and flexible process automation system on the market. Attendees will learn how to apply PCS 7 to a wider range of applications. They will also learn how PCS 7 BOX enables cost effective use of PCS 7 technology on smaller applications than traditionally possible for DCS systems. PTO (Booth# 144) Siemens supports PROFIBUS through the high performance technology of PCS 7. Attendees at the EXPO will be able to learn how the integration of smart motor controls enables seamless amalgamation of the electrical infrastructure. Displays and presentations by industry experts will explain how this PROFIBUS and PCS 7 union reduces the total cost of the design, engineering and installation process and improves overall operation efficiency. Siemens field experts will also be demonstrating how the interchangeability of PROFIBUS enables end-users to switch between multi-vendor products with ease. Foundation Fieldbus (Booth# 426) Siemens Process Instrumentation supports its customers need by employing a variety of fieldbus alternatives; now including Foundation Fieldbus for its line of Sitrans pressure transmitters and Sipart valve positioners.
