Softing introduces UFC100-F1 FF and Profibus chip
October 11, 2007, Newburyport, MA, USA - Softing announces its new UFC100-F1 fieldbus chip, a comprehensive solution to incorporate Fieldbus Foundation or PROFIBUS PA technology into host or field devices. The UFC100-F1 is fully pin and software-compatible with the Yamaha YTZ420 (“FIND1+”).

Conformance, interoperability, as well as physical layer tests were executed to verify that the UFC100-F1 is able to directly replace the YTZ420 without alterations to existing hardware and software design. The advantages of the UFC100-F1 include, but are not limited to, a better performance in jitter tolerance and a larger FIFO memory resulting in fewer interrupts to the field device processor.

The UFC100-F1 is compliant with the IEC 61158-2 Physical Layer standard at 31.25 kbit/s, as well as with the IEC 61158-4 Data Link Layer standard. The integrated digital filter circuits provide a significantly better noise immunity when compared to existing ASIC solutions. Very low power consumption combined with a wide operating temperature range make the UFC100-F1 ideally suited for use in bus-powered devices. The progressive design of the UFC100-F1 offers additional functionality for firmware engineers to significantly enhance future products.

Softing is committed to long-term availability of the UFC100-F1 and the state-of-the-art production process enforces strict quality standards. This uncompromising commitment to quality is paired with readily available support teams from Softing and Aniotek that are ready to assist in every step of the product development cycle.
