Thermo Fisher opens laboratory in Switzerland
October 14, 2008 – Thermo Fisher Scientific announced the opening of a new facility in Reinach, Switzerland, near Basel, to support the large pharmaceutical and chemical industry cluster in Switzerland near the French and German borders. The facility houses Thermo Fisher’s analytical instrument operations and consolidates the Flux Instruments and Spectronex product lines that were acquired from SwissAnalytic Group.

Formally opened in September 2008, the new 12,000-square-foot facility features a 3,200 square foot state-of-the-art demonstration laboratory containing new Thermo Scientific mass spectrometers and other laboratory instruments and consumables. There, customers will have the ability to work closely with the company’s technical experts to gain hands-on experience with new instrumentation. The facility also houses recently relocated commercial operations for the Fisher Scientific sales channel.

“With this new facility, we have finalized the integration of the former Flux Instruments and Spectronex businesses,” said Günter Wagner, general manager, Central Europe Sales, Thermo Fisher Scientific. “The new infrastructure and demonstration lab allows us to offer our customers more comprehensive support and further strengthens our position in Europe.”

The new facility was officially opened by Marc Casper, chief operating officer, Thermo Fisher Scientific. The ceremony included presentations by industry leaders including Professor Wolfram Weckwert of University of Vienna, Professor Gerald Haug of Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and Dr Alexander Makarov of Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Thermo Scientific is part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world leader in serving science.
