TURCK introduces Sendix harsh duty absolute encoders
April 13, 2008 - Minneapolis, Minn. — TURCK introduced Sendix encoders with 12-bit analog and 14-bit CANopen outputs designed for applications requiring rugged, high-resolution encoders. Die-cast housings, resistance to humidity and condensation and an IP 69k protection rating make these encoders exceptionally suitable for outdoor use.

These single-turn magnetic absolute encoders use patented Sensor-Protect technology to deliver fully encapsulated electronics and separated mechanical assembly, providing a high resistance to shock (rated to 500 g) and vibration (rated to 30 g). The encoders are assembled using proprietary Safety-Lockplus technology. This technology utilizes interlocking bearings on the flange and a mechanically protected shaft seal to protect the encoder from external debris during installation. These unique features, combined with an operating range of -40 to 85° C and the non-contact nature of the devices, help ensure the encoders’ resistance to wear. The encoders come equipped with an LED to help ease installation and simplify diagnostics, as well as an integral cable or M12 connector. Since the encoders’ diameter is only 36 mm, they may also be applied in space restrictive locations.

Sendix encoders for CANopen networks may be programmed via the bus for node address, baud rate and termination, delivering fast, error-free start-up. This also allows users to obtain position or speed data in real time. Other parameters such as scale factors, preset values and limit switch values may also be programmed via the bus.

TURCK is an industry leader providing superior quality sensing, connectivity and network products to help manufacturers improve their automated processes.
