Weidmuller introduces IP67 industrial Ethernet switches
RICHMOND, VA - June 13, 2007 – Weidmuller announces the introduction of a new line of innovative IP67 rated Industrial Ethernet switches. These new switches are designed to excel in extreme environmental conditions. The robust housing has a flammability rating of UL94 V0 with industry standard M12 sealed connection ports.

These switches enable engineers to deploy Ethernet-based control systems directly onto a machine, process or factory floor. Historically, engineers struggled to find ways to collect and disseminate Ethernet signals at either the machine level, in confined spaces or in harsh environments. They were required to specify long cable runs or bulky enclosures to house Ethernet switches and their required powering devices.

“This new switch design allows engineers to deploy Ethernet switching technology directly onto machines in harsh production environments. This allows for increased design flexibility that saves both time and expense,” said Bruce Hofmann, Product Marketing Manager for Weidmuller.

The line includes both an unmanaged version and a full featured managed version. The managed version supports VLAN, QoS, port trunking, port mirroring, SNMP, DHCP, is auto crossing/auto negotiating, and able to instantly perform self healing connections via Weidmuller’s RapidRing technology.

These new switches feature eight 10/100 Ethernet ports along with dual power contacts and a serial interface port for set-up and diagnostics. All ports feature M12 connections that provide IP67 protection in a small 210x24x31mm housing. Approvals include UL and CE.

Weidmuller is the leading provider of solutions for the transmission of power, data and control signals in industrial environments. The company develops, produces and sells industrial electronics, network infrastructure components and connectivity solutions such as Industrial Ethernet, Relays, Power Supplies, I/O modules, printed circuit board connectors, terminal blocks and complete DIN Rail assemblies. The Weidmuller group has a strong international focus with manufacturing and sales locations in over 70 countries.
