January 12, 2011 - ISA and the Automation Federation (AF) completed an Alliance Agreement with FIRST in October 2010. In just a short time FIRST, AF, and ISA have established a tremendous relationship that in the coming years will give the automation professionals in our sections and divisions the opportunity to serve as mentors, volunteers, and team leaders to FIRST teams around the world.

As the 2011 ISA President, Leo Staples had the honor to represent our Society and AF at the FIRST Founder’s Reception held at Dean Kamen’s home and the FIRST Robotics Competition Kickoff at Southern New Hampshire University.

One of the big announcements at the kickoff was will.i.am (Black Eyed Peas) has joined forces with FIRST and is actively working to build support in the entertainment industry for FIRST. The St. Louis ISA Section is already heavily involved in the 2011 FIRST Championship, which will be held in St. Louis, Mo., 27-30 April.
