Happy
New Year! Resolutions
I hope everyone had a happy and
safe New Year! At the start of each new year, I like to set new
goals and resolutions. With regard to Automationtechies.com,
here are a few goals for 2004.
1. Continue to be the
'go-to" site for industry information, i.e. keep adding great
content to the site.
2. Exceed the 100,000
visitors/month mark. In December 2003, we set another
record for site traffic, just shy of 80,000 visitors. By
meeting this traffic goal, I believe we would become the most
visited industrial automation and process control site on the
web. Pretty cool, huh?
3. Provide our site visitors
and e-newsletter subscribers with the the latest company and
product news. Check out our home page or our
Automation News section frequently for comprehensive
industry news updates.
4. Provide more frequent
e-news updates with industry news headlines, articles,
application tools, job opportunities, and much more. We
plan to publish our e-newsletter each week unless there's a
national holiday or major automation show scheduled that week.
5. Compile a comprehensive
product showcase where visitors can browse new and
innovative products by category or manufacturer. Right
now, the Product Showcase has a few manufacturers represented,
but will soon have many new products and companies represented.
Check back often and browse our
Product Showcase. Oh, and don't forget to review the
Featured Products each month (also on the home page).
6. Continue to be the
preferred site for job search and posting of industry job
opportunities. Companies that post their jobs on our site
continue to have success. The cost to post a job for 60
days is just $295.00. Visit our
Career and Job Center often.
Of course, some of these goals
rely on cooperation and contribution from manufacturers and
other automation companies. I invite those companies who
are not already participating to contact me (use my name link below)
to discuss how we can work together.
Don't forget to spend some time
setting your personal and professional goals and resolutions for
2004. Its worth the investment!
Best wishes to all of you for a
prosperous 2004.
Enjoy the rest of this e-news!

10 Tips for Choosing Temperature
Transmitters
While there are many practical and
economic advantages to using temperature transmitters, the most
basic are to ensure measurement integrity and to convert a
temperature sensor’s low-level (ohm or mV) signal to a standard
4-20mA current signal that can be readily accepted by a
monitoring and control system, such as a DCS or PLC. Advancing
technology has made the use of temperature transmitters
affordable, even in cost-sensitive applications. Here are few
things to consider when choosing one.

Application Story: Canadian Pharmaceutical Giant Goes for Growth
FKI Logistex® Cleco Systems Maestro
aisle-changing cranes provide flexible vertical storage and
retrieval solution to enable 500 percent growth. Fred Grafe
likes to think outside of the box. Luckily he can. In his role
as director of logistics for Toronto, Ontario-based Apotex
Inc.—Canada’s largest Canadian-owned pharmaceutical
manufacturer—Grafe has been virtually forced to stay outside of
the box to keep his team of logistics experts just ahead of the
explosive growth their company has experienced in the past few
years.
