Hello everyone, You've got to love automation of any kind...it ultimately saves time and money. As many of you know you have a few different options when you subscribe to Automation.com. You can choose to receive our e-newsletter. You can choose to receive job notification messages. You can choose to receive product and service announcements. Because of the custom nature of our job notification system, we managed all of our list options ourselves, i.e. we had to manually upload and synchronize our subscriber database and e-newsletter list with our list manager software. Last week, we changed our subscription/edit profile process so our list manager automatically takes care of the e-newsletter and product/service announcement subscription. No more manually filtering our list and removing people who don't want to receive our newsletter, etc. It's now automated. As a subscriber you now manage your job notifications subscription separately from your e-newsletter and product/service announcements subscription. However, both of your profiles can be accessed from the following site page: http://www.automation.com/jobs/default.php?page=edit To manage your job notification subscription, you still Login to Edit your Profile on Automation.com. At the bottom of the page, enter your e-mail address and password, and you will be able to edit your job notification preferences, skills, etc. To manage your e-newsletter and product/service announcement subscription, enter your e-mail address in the top section of the page above (also provided below for your easy reference) and click submit. You will receive instructions on how to manage your profile information and preferences. You can edit any of your personal information, list preferences and even select a text-only preference. Enjoy the rest of this e-news! |

Cognex Corporation Acquires DVT Cognex has a very broad product offering including high-end and low end vision systems. Cognex's low cost vision offering called InSight, competes head-to-head for factory floor applications with DVT’s Legend. Cognex realized that they didn’t have the sales channel to effectively and efficiently compete with DVT on end-user factory floor applications. So over the past year, Cognex aggressively signed up distributors to sell these low-cost easy-to-use vision products. To date, they have signed 40 new distributors in North America. With the DVT acquisition (and one motivating factor), Cognex immediately gains 150 distributors worldwide. DVT was very good at finding and managing high-tech distributors, and according to Cognex that methodology and management will stay in place. I have to wonder how this will affect the Cognex newly signed 40 distributors. Will they keep all 190 distributors? Or will they pick and chose the best of breed to sell the complete Cognex/DVT offering. It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out.
