Where to Find NEW Products
"Back in the day", we would go to trade shows to find all the new products offered by all the suppliers. Suppliers would wait (and some still wait) to release new products until the next major show. It's no secret that trade shows have lost some of their effectiveness due to cost, lack of interest, etc.

Magazines do publish new product information, but they couldn't possibly publish all the new products in a hard copy issue of their magazine. Over the years, we've come to realize that many suppliers introduce new products that just simply never make it to print.

So how do you find the latest new products from suppliers? Sure, in this day of the Internet, you can use your favorite search engine to find information, but how do you know if the information is really new? It typically takes weeks, if not months, for the search engines to find new product pages on supplier web sites, assuming the supplier has optimized his pages to appear for relevant searches.

Soon, you'll have a new option. AutomationShowcase.com will launch in the next few weeks with the sole purpose of introducing new products for automation and control. You will be able to search for products by product category, supplier or month released. There will also be a keyword search option if you are looking for something very specific. And, to uphold the "new product" intent of the site, products will only be displayed for 6 months.

Suppliers will no longer need to wait for the next trade show to introduce their new product or wait to see if one of the magazines will publish their product news.

We'll let you know when the new site goes live.

Enjoy the rest of this eNews!

e-Kanban: A Key to Lean
Kanban is a visual signal that something needs to be replenished. Lean Manufacturers today use Kanban to drive a process to make, move, or buy the appropriate parts. Thus, Kanban becomes one of the fundamental building blocks of a pull (or consumption based) replenishment system. No card? No Replenishment.

Pinto's Points – How to Win in the Automation Business
Jim Pinto's new book is just in from the printer. If you need some insightful pointers on how to succeed in the automation business, or an overview of today and tomorrow's hot technologies, then this is the book for you.

Pinto's Points covers management topics, globalization, sales and marketing, technology trends and futures, and far-out technology visions. It closes with whimsical humor and poetry which I hope you'll enjoy. It includes 174 brief "points" in 6 different parts, each introduced by an industry guru.

Once again, Jim Pinto has gone beyond 'business as usual' to explore the implications of future technology and how it will change the global automation marketplace. Conveniently organized and with insights from other industry leaders, this book is a must read for every automation professional and a classic for your automation library bookshelf.
