Moderators Wanted for Automation Blogs
Back in the June 1, 2005 issue, I indicated that we were planning to improve (upgrade) our current discussion forums to more of a full-fledged Automation Blog. Well, we're getting closer. I'm happy to report that our blog development is finally underway.

As we started to dig deeper into the whole blog concept, we realized that successful blogs will need moderators. I anticipate setting up a number of blog communities focused on specific topics/categories in automation. As a result, we will need a moderator for each blog community. Community topics have not yet been formalized, so we are open to suggestions. And, more importantly, we are looking for volunteer moderators.

Here's what we are looking for in moderators:

  • Passionate (and of course, knowledgeable) about a topic
  • Works for an end-user, OEM, systems integrator or consultant (Vendors/suppliers will be allowed to respond to posts, but probably won't make an ideal moderator...unless you can convince me otherwise.)
  • Readily available to review and respond, if necessary, to posts
  • Open-minded: Will allow any posts on a topic unless the posts are extremely out of line.
  • Will work for free. Your only payment is exposure, i.e. getting your name out among other automation professionals.

Come on, this is your chance to help make a difference!

If you or one of your colleagues would be interested in becoming a moderator on any automation topic, please Contact Me as soon as possible.

Enjoy the rest of this eNews!

We just moved the site search function from the upper right-hand corner of the page to the upper left-hand corner of the page, just under the Automation.com logo. I encourage you to use this search function if you are looking for something specific. We have thousands of pages on the site and this search function could help you pin-point just the information you're looking for.

On a similar note, we replaced the GlobalSpec search with a keyword search function on AutomationShowcase.com. I believe this change will better serve your new product search needs because it will display new products relative to specific keywords, without redirecting you to another browser window and/or web site.
