Corporate Cultures Article Series Without great people, you can't design and manufacture great products, you can't integrate that manufacturing process, you can't achieve outstanding sales goals, and you can't offer superb customer service. When you start digging into what makes any company successful, you begin to realize that it's all about people and how companies interact with people. In our industry, there seems to be an enormous amount of turnover. Employees leave companies for many reasons, but chances are usually pretty good that it ultimately comes down to one or more "people factors". I don't claim to be an expert on employee retention or happiness, but, as a manager, I've learned that the following elements should always be part of any employer/employee relationship.
Jim Pinto, a regular article contributor, continues to explore a few of the automation majors and will give you some insight to what makes each company tick. I'm sure you'll begin to see a common theme that ultimately revolves around people. Some of the companies in Jim's sight are Schneider Electric, Emerson, ABB, Honeywell, Omron, Yokogawa and more. Jim's second article is about Emerson, called The Emerson Difference. You can read Jim's first corporate cultures article, Schneider Electric - Aggressive French Giant, and future corporate culture articles on Automation.com at the following link: http://www.automation.com/sitepages/pid2291.php.
