Corporate Cultures Part 3, about ABB Then we hit the turn of the century and everything started going downhill. I remember this well because we just started our company and launched our web site in March of 2000. Soon after, we started into a recession that quickly escalated with the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001. Many manufacturers stopped spending money to improve their own manufacturing processes and started outsourcing to stay competitive. Large manufacturing companies and automation suppliers, with excessive overhead and huge head counts, were hit hard. The companies that reacted quickly to the changing times were able to pull themselves up and march on. ABB was one of those companies. Jim Pinto continues his Corporate Cultures Article Series with the article ABB Corporate Culture – Winners Shaped by History. You can read Jim's other articles about Schneider Electric and Emerson, and future corporate culture articles on Automation.com at the following link: http://www.automation.com/sitepages/pid2291.php.
