    Product Search Just Got Easier

    Dear %%if(%%firstname%% is empty,Colleague,%%firstname%%)%%:

My hope is that we just made your job a little bit easier this week. We added a brand new feature to our existing Product Showcase allowing you to search for products by keyword, product category, manufacturer and release date. Not only did we add this parametric search ability, but we constantly add new products to our database.

As you know, each day we publish product announcements and other news on our site. We automatically add any new products to our product showcase, and they will remain in the showcase for a minimum of one year. Right now in our database, we have indexed the past nine months of new products plus other products sponsored by a number of suppliers.

To my knowledge, we publish more automation-specific products and news than any other resource, online or in print. By automatically adding new products to our searchable Product Showcase, we hope to make it easy for you to find specific product information, and if necessary, contact the suppliers for more information.

Please take a minute to search our product database and let me know what you think. We created a short survey to collect your feedback regarding our new product search. Remember, if you select multiple search criteria, your criteria will be ANDed together and will result in few results. For all searches, sponsored products are displayed first, followed by products displayed in reverse chronological order, i.e. newest products listed first.

If your focus is strictly "new products", use the Month Announced criteria to filter your results. Please note that there may be a delay of a day or two from the time we first publish a product announcement to when the product will show up in the searchable database. Since we are still in the process of populating our database, some searches on specific manufacturers may return no results.

I look forward to hearing back from you. And don't forget to come back often to see what's new in automation.

Check out the Product Showcase, then take our Quick Survey.

Thanks in advance for your time and feedback!

Industrial CRM: General Practitioners Need Not Apply
With up to ten years of continued process improvements on the plant floor, back office, and distribution operations, manufacturers have finally arrived at the front door of customer relationship management (CRM). Still engineering and operations focused, many senior manufacturing executives are strongly resistant and visibly uncomfortable in approaching lean CRM.

NI Technical Symposium - Professional Development Series for Engineers
From October through December 2006, engineers and scientists from across the country will attend these local conferences for new product presentations; hands-on, technology-focused sessions; and exhibits on the latest solutions in design, control and test. During the NI Technical Symposium, attendees can exchange ideas on innovative approaches to technical challenges, study future technology trends in virtual instrumentation and learn firsthand how NI software and hardware increases productivity and lowers costs.

Conference attendees also have the opportunity to learn about new NI software – including LabVIEW 8.20, the 20th anniversary edition of the graphical development environment – and new NI hardware innovations including PXI, PCI Express and CompactRIO. These products offer greater flexibility, faster system development and increased system performance. Additionally, attendees will hear from experts on the hottest industry topics during keynote presentations and technical sessions. Breakout track topics include Real-Time Control; DAQ, Instrumentation, and Test; and Software Development Techniques.

    Featured Conference

    OPC Unified Architecture DevCon 2006
On October 10- 12 in Munich, Germany, this conference will provide the unveiling and jumpstart for the leading technologists to quickly become proficient with the OPC Unified Architecture. You will have the opportunity to understand the business model (the who, what, when, where and why of the OPC Unified Architecture), an overview of all the components and specifications, an overview of all the technology used to deploy OPC Unified Architecture products and solutions, plus a detailed dive down into the core of the Unified Architecture and all the corresponding technology that is available for vendors to truly build best-of-breed OPC Unified Architecture products and solutions.

This important event will allow the participants the opportunity to meet with the designers and architects of the new OPC Unified Architecture. The audience for the conference is:

    • Software architects and developers responsible for application integration from the factory floor through the enterprise.
    • Manufacturing end-user and system integrator visionaries with a long term view of the future that wish to drive the vendor community toward cost-saving interoperable solutions.
    • Product developers and development decision makers from all existing OPC vendors.
It is recommend that all vendors and end-users alike, that have been involved or will be involved in any project requiring multiple vendor interoperability take advantage of this great opportunity and attend this important event. Additional benefits of this event include networking with other OPC vendors facilitating sharing strategy about existing OPC architectures and products, and learning about new strategies for increased reliability and security.
